Safety eyewear for industrial use is manufactured to the ANSI Z87.1-2003 Standard for Occupational and Educational Personal Eye and Face Protection Devices. This performance standard requires that all frames and lenses pass a high - mass and a high-velocity test. In addition, the ANSI Z87.1 standard calls for the use of a 3.0-mm thick lens in Plastic or Glass and the use of a 2.0 – mm thick lens in Polycarbonate. This lens reduces the amount of breakage and improves lens retention in the frame.

Computer (VDT) Eyewear Program Information
In many instances company employees spend the majority of their time working at computer video display terminals. While there is no definitive scientific evidence that terminals are permanently harmful to the eyes, complaints of eye discomfort, headaches, and dry or irritated eyes have become quite prevalent. Employees have also complained of neck or backaches, temporary myopia (nearsightedness), blurred vision, after images and double vision.
